Questions & Answers about Therapy
What is the first step to start therapy?
To begin, you can reach out to me by filling out the contact form provided here. After I receive your message, I'll get back to you within a few days to set up a short, free 15-minute chat on Zoom. In this chat, we can talk more about what you've already shared and you can ask me any questions you have. It's a chance for us to explore the possibility of working together, and there's no obligation to continue if you decide it's not the right fit. Feel free to use this brief session as an opportunity to check in with yourself and begin the process.
What is the first session like?
If we are a good fit and you choose to work with me, the next step is an assessment session. This is a full 1 hour session charged at a flat fee of £65 where I ask a bit more about yourself and your life experiences. You are welcome to share as much or as little as you want. We will start to talk about the possible goals and outcomes of our work together. The first session may be stressful and that's ok. It's a natural reaction to a new situation. You might feel low or anxious about reaching out to someone new to help you to deal with all of it. It's normal to feel a bit tense in these circumstances. This first meeting opens a series of 3-4 sessions during which we will get to know each other a bit more. We will talk about everything that's difficult for you right now, what worries you what makes you anxious or depressed. We will also talk about what is most helpful to you, how you look after yourself, what are your hopes and goals of working together. Remember that you don't need to know the answers right now. Our sessions are in place to help you navigate through it all.
How much does it cost?
Each session is charged at £65 for a 50 min, and it is paid before the session starts. I offer some low-cost sessions for those on low or no income. Places are limited and you might need to wait a bit longer. If you are interested, please let me know.
Are all sessions online?
Yes, I currently work on-line. It gives me an opportunity to connect with those who wish to, independently of where they are based. When you decide to engage in on-line therapy, please make sure you have a space where you feel comfortable and safe and can speak freely. I am based in Sheffield. If you are close by, and you feel you'd benefit from face-to-face sessions, let me know. We can check what is available for us to meet in person.
